Brano K204 is a classic and years-proven hydraulic door closer that is used to regulate door closing. You will find the most common use in apartment buildings, panel houses and everywhere where it is necessary to always close the access door.

Door mounting instructions

The installation of the Brano K204 door closer is relatively easy, but it is recommended that people with some skill and technical knowledge do it.

1. We sell the Brano K204 closer in four sizes according to the weight and size of your door. So choose your size according to this chart. Columns a to k indicate the dimensions of the shutter itself according to the diagram below.

2. Before the assembly itself

Always carefully check before assembly that the door fits perfectly to the frame and does not rub anywhere. We also recommend greasing the door hinges (hinges) and greasing the fittings. Also verify that the closer will not bang against the wall or other obstacles after the intended location for the closer to be installed. You would limit the door's ability to fully open and run the risk of damaging the closer.

We recommend mounting the closer on the inside of the door. You can also mount it in reverse with the lever down.

Rebuilding the closer to the right design

We supply fasteners from the factory for the most common LEFT versions. They are therefore intended for the left door. However, you can easily remount them for the right door as well. Pull the ratchet (1) (toothed sleeve) out of the closer. Then remove the cover (2) by pushing backwards. Then pull out the spring and put it in its place upside down so that its bent end hangs over the R bar.
PThen put on the lid and ratchet.
For the left door, the hinges (Z) are clearly visible on the left side, for the right door they are on the right side.

3. Assembly of the lever

As standard, we deliver the closers with the lever removed. You have to put it on with a shaped hole on the pin. The shaped opening is not symmetrical and is intended for left or right doors. Secure the pin firmly with the lever nut.

4. Hole marking, pre-drilling and assembly

Before you mark where you will attach the closer, decide whether you want the door to open to an angle of 90° or above 90°. The provided template for marking the holes is adapted to both options. Accordingly, then attach the assembly template, which you receive together with your closer, to the door and mark the places where you will drill the foot and the closer.
Timber frames and doors – pre-drill a 3.5mm hole here to a depth of 14mm in the door. For door frames up to a depth of 25 mm. If you have a hollow door, then drill a hole through the door and attach the closer with an M5 type screw and put a metal washer on the other side of the door.
Metal doors and door frames - here we recommend holes with a diameter of 4.2 mm and an M5 thread cut in the hole.
Screw the closer with all four 5x30 mm screws so that it rests perfectly and on the entire surface of the door. Screw the foot of the closer lever to the frame with two 5x25 mm screws. Before screwing on the foot, check that the angle of the door frame is approximately 90°. For metal doors, we do not recommend using self-tapping screws, but M5 screws. After screwing, put its cover on the closer and secure it with the two supplied screws on the sides.

5. Adjusting the spring and stop

Adjust the spring preload before setting the closing speed. Using the assembly key, turn the toothed ratchet against the direction of door opening between 1 and 4 teeth, then secure with the latch on the ratchet. Do not shift more than 4 teeth
Regulating the door closing speed is very easy. After removing the cover, you will see a clearly marked adjustment screw. By tightening it and gently screwing it in, the closing time is extended, and by loosening it, on the contrary, it is shortened.

6. Regulation of door closing and knocking

This is often a critical point that some property owners underestimate and then the door slams loudly when closing or the door does not close through the door latch.
Knock significantly affects the length of the door rod, the part that is connected to the closer lever itself, and regulation is therefore carried out on the rod.

You have two options to influence the knockdown:
1. – remove the safety pin (1) and remove the pin (2) from the foot. If the door does not close, extend the rod (3) by unscrewing it. If the door slams, then shorten the rod and screw it.
You can also unscrew the entire foot of the lever and adjust its length by screwing the thread on the rod.
What you get in the package:
In the packaging of your new Brano K204 closer, you will receive the following parts and components:

assembly template, key and detailed instructions
lever nut
4 screws 5×30 mm for the closer and 2 screws 5×25 for attaching the closer lever including washers
Proven tips for your closer:

If the closer is on an entrance door exposed to wind and drafts, use a closer one size larger.
Although we use oil with a constant temperature, in extreme and long-lasting frosts, the hydraulic oil solidifies and slows down the closing of the door. If necessary, adjust the closing speed with the adjusting screw.
Check the tightness of the anchor bolts at least once a quarter. You can also lubricate the joint of the shutter lever.
When disassembling the closer, always release the preload of the spring to avoid pinching your fingers when releasing the hinges.
